Nothing can dampen the youth day joy for Sarah

SARAH Ison from Nowra had such a great time at World Youth Day even a torn ligament failed to tear her away.

It was the second World Youth Day for Sarah.

She went to Germany in 2005 as a St John the Evangelist High School student.

Since then she has talked to students about her experience and became involved in the Journey of the Cross when it passed through Nowra in the lead-up to WYD.

Sarah became a group leader and took a group of students to Sydney last Tuesday for the festivities.

Fortunately she did not have to rough it and the group was lucky enough to be boarded in Miranda.

The six-day pilgrimage had many highlights for Sarah.

“The Stations of the Cross completely blew me away,” she said.

The Thursday re-enactment of the last days of Jesus featured a performance by Milton woman Marina Dixon as Jesus’ mother Mary.

Marina had also been one of the Shoalhaven pilgrims who travelled to Germany for the last WYD.

“I loved meeting all the people from all over the world and carrying on like lunatics,” said Sarah.

With her friends she walked across the Harbour Bridge on Saturday singing Land Down Under and Khe Sanh.

Sarah injured herself later that night at Randwick Racecourse.

“I was doing the limbo with a bunch of Italians when I tripped,” she explained.

12:50 PM AEST | When I heard that some obscure woman from Alaska had been selected as the Republican Party's vice-presidential nominee, my first reaction was not to check the cable news channels, or even the internet news sites. No, my first reaction was to go to YouTube.
