Demons’ final hopes go north with Tigers

South Coast AFL

Northern Districts 25.11 (161)

Albatross 5.2 (32)

ANY hopes the Albatross Demons had of making the finals in this year’s South Coast AFL season evaporated on Saturday with a 129-point loss to second placed Northern Districts.

Although coming last on the ladder the Demons, if they had strung a number of wins together in the last month of the competition and had a few results go their way, might have snuck into fourth spot.

But that’s not to be now after the Tigers scored a convincing 21 goal win.

The Tigers were always in control leading 45-1 at quarter time after a seven goal opening term and from there it was just a question of by how many.

The Demons battled on gamely, but the effort to overcome the Tigers in reserve grade proved too much for them.

In the end Norths won 25.11 (161) to 5.2 (32).

Jason Lucas starred for the Tigers with nine goals, while Pat Lindsay kicked five and Trent Avery, Matt Lang and Matt Rush each kicked three.

Aaron Smits kicked for the Demons to go with the six he landed in reserve grade for Bay and Basin.

Power stays in the hunt

THE Kiama Power stayed in the premiership race with a commanding win over Wollondilly at Bargo yesterday.

The Power was never troubled by the Knights, running out easy winners in the end 23.15 (153) to 8.7 (55).

While it may look a comfortable win, Wollondilly certainly put up a fight.

Ash Wallin led the way for the Power with six goals, while Dan Herbert landed five.

Russel Andrews bagged four of the Knights’ goals.

Kiama 23.15 (153) Wollondilly 8.7 (55)
