BRING IT ON WORLD
NOWRA cyclist Adam Rourke will don the green and gold of Australia to compete at the World Masters Games in Sydney in October.
After taking second at the Australian Masters Games in the pointscore race on the track, Rourke is eligible to wear the Australian strip at the Masters Games.
And it is the first time the 45-year-old will have donned his nation’s colours, saying it’s a huge
honour.
“It’s something I didn’t expect – it’s come after 30 years of hard work.”
At the World Masters Rourke will contest the points race, scratch race (over 40 laps) and the individual pursuit.
Over a 30-year career Rourke has raced in 1800 events – that equates to one race every day for five years straight, recording 330 first placings, 290 second placings and 200 third placings.
He has won 31 State and Country championship medals, one national gold medal and six national silver medals with the highlight a 5th placing in the Sprint Derby Final at the World Masters Games.
