THE next six inductees into the Shoalhaven Hall of Sporting Fame will be officially made this Friday evening.
Lawn bowler Bob King, athlete Paul Greene, taekwondo ‘s Dale Bryce, archer Tony Pitt-Lancaster, racing identity Kevin Robinson and cricket’s Bob Webster will all be inducted into the Hall of Fame at Shoalhaven City Council’s Administrative Building from 5.30pm.
Greene, Pitt-Lancaster, King and Bryce will be inducted into the elite athlete section, while Robinson and Webster are in the sporting heroes division.
The Shoalhaven Hall of Sporting Fame concept was developed in 2005 when there were 18 inductees covering a range of sports.
There are three categories: Elite Athlete, Sporting Hero, and Sporting Animal, who must have a strong link to the Shoalhaven district.
Those inducted in 2005 were -
Elite athletes: Merv Bennett (equestrian); Tony Branson (rugby league); Ian Davis (cricket); Karen Higginson (swimming); Joe Jorgenson (rugby league); Stuart Lee (taekwondo); Bruce McGuire (rugby league); Karen Murphy (lawn bowls); James Stanbury (rowing); Andrew Walker (rugby league and rugby union).
Sporting heroes: Etienne de Mestre (horse trainer); Foster Emery (cricket and rugby union); Doug Holland (cycling); Bernie Regan (various); Artie Smith (cricket and rugby league).
Sporting animals: Archer (Melbourne Cup winner); Mark Radium (showjumper); Regal Reign (Olympic equestrian).
