ULLADULLA race driver Daniel Lewis has continued his charge up the Formula Ford NSW Motor Racing Champion- ships.
Lewis finished third overall at the recent round at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park.
After qualifying fifth, he finished fourth in the first race, third in the second and then fourth in the trophy race to just miss out on a podium finish.
But these performances were enough for him to finish third outright for the round, which was a pleasing result.
“Sure it would have been good to again be on the podium in the trophy race, but that’s how racing goes sometimes,” he said.
“That could have moved me as high as possibly even third overall in the overall standings – we just have to wait on the official results.”
Lewis said the car performed well over the weekend and looked great with its new livery.
“We had the car repainted for this round and it looked great with its new livery of white with orange fluro stripes,” he said.
“Seriously though the car ran really well, it felt fantastic.
“We won’t have to do much ahead of the final round at Eastern Creek on September 27.
“We will just do a little maintenance and that’s about it.”
Lewis has certainly made his presence felt in the NSW series since making the move from go-karting.
The 24-year-old is making a name for himself in his rookie season.
“Racing Formula Fords is something I have wanted to do for a few years,” he said, having raced go-karts for the past 12 years.
After purchasing a car in Melbourne, that had actually been campaigned by James Moffat and Lucas Dumbrell, he hasn’t looked back.
