LOCAL junior sportstars received a boost on Friday night at the Shoalhaven Sportstar of the Year awards when the Bernie Regan Memorial Sporting Trust announced its annual grants.
All up $6500 was presented to 10 junior sporting stars to help further their careers.
The top grant of $1250 went to rising cricket star Nic Maddinson.
$750 grants went to Lydia Upitis (volleyball), Mitchell Pritchard (tennis) and Luke Styke (motocross).
$500 grants went to Sally Hunt (judo), Laura Kent (tennis), Amy Cornish (volleyball), Amber Arazny (snowboarding), Alex Dicker (football) and Sarah Boddington (lawn bowls)
“It’s our way of being able to help some local athletes achieve their goals,” said trust chairman Paul Godard.
“And many of the athletes we have backed over the years have gone onto bigger and better things.
“I must acknowledge the Shoalhaven Sportsboard and Disability Shoalhaven for their support with the grants as well.”
