Tall storeys from Mayor Watson

3/09/2008 11:18:00 AM
I HAD to do a double-take over the Mayor Watson comment in Friday’s SCR in which he stated that “Council should develop site specific control plans for coastal villages other than Huskisson to ensure Gold Coast-style development can never happen.” How wonderful that Mayor Watson now agrees, by default, that Huskisson is a coastal village and therefore, according to NSW Coastal Planning Guidelines, should not have buildings higher than three storeys! How marvellous that he is suddenly listening to the majority of people who live, work and play in Huskisson and the other coastal villages, who have been clamouring for years to be protected from looming over-development and multi-storey building. And such terrific timing!

K. Broadhurst,

Huskisson.
