MY friends are a bit mean. They maintain problems the current elected leadership in the Shoalhaven City Council is having are self-inflicted. I personally believe the problems are more to do with forgetfulness.
I’m sure our elected leaders only just forgot.
Forgot to plan for adequate toilets in the $24 million plus Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre,
Forgot to plan for adequate space for catering in the same complex,
Forgot to plan for air-conditioning in the Nowra library.
Forgot to buy the TAFE building, then forgot they did.
Forgot ‘box’ design for a hotel complex is not a reason to reject the lowest bid out of hand.
Forgot that you need all the building blocks required to build a shopping complex not just most.
Forgot there is an arts centre between the library and the newly acquired building block to expand the library.
Forgot there are still no parking facilities in Nowra for the largest and fastest growing tourist group in Australia, the caravaners ( not even at the tourist centre).
Forgot to provide for safe approaches and departures for upgraded roads leading on to the highway at South Nowra,
Forgot that every time they approve another school along a highway there is a resultant slowing of traffic flow there twice a day.
So, I explain to my friends that we are all human and we all make mistakes. I know I do. I think I made one at the last local government election.
F. Eyck,
North Nowra.
